Tong grew up in Albuquerque, NM and earned his BA in Biology from the University of New Mexico. Shortly after, he enlisted in the US Army in pursuit of becoming an Officer.

After commissioning as a Second Lieutenant and Basic Officer Leaders Course, he was stationed in JBLM, WA as a Field Artillery Officer with 1-94 FAR.

While residing in Washington, he earned his AAS in Computer Science in 2016 and a BAS in Computer Science in 2018 from Renton Technical College. Tong relocated back to his hometown of Albuquerque, NM in 2021 where he currently serves as the Database Administrator for the New Mexico Public Educations Department.
